Performance Diploma in Chorister/Liturgical Singing

The Chorister/Liturgical Singing Diploma is aimed at singers who would like to obtain recognition for their musical talent in a church context.

This performance assessment can place in a venue of candidates own choice and candidates should provide their own accompanist.

The assessment consists of two or three prepared contrasting pieces of the candidates choice. Of these, one must be in four parts (SATB) and the candidate should sing his or her voice part whilst the examiner plays the other three parts. A short hymn (approximately two verses of long meter or similar) or part of a psalm or canticle (plainsong or Anglican pointing) should also be performed.

A set of aural tests and sight singing will also be part of the assessment.

The chorister obtaining the highest marks is eligible for the Evelyn R Paterson Memorial Prize
