Combined Performance & Examination
The NMSM recognises that some candidates will want to tailor-make a Diploma which best reflects their own interests. In this case, these interests may have two, or even three, component parts.
By special negotiation (as every case is different) the School offers combined subject Diplomas which can include any of the following:
- A performance assessment
- A practical examination with a performance element (e.g. conducting)
- Musical dissertation or research
- Composition
Any combination is possible and the elements may, or may not, relate to each other. For example, a candidate wishing to compose some music may wish to perform it, so this would represent a two-part combination. Another candidate may wish to write about some new musical development and then compose a suitable short work to demonstrate it and further perform the work themselves.
In the case of composite submissions, the relevant elements and percentages thereof need to be discussed and agreed with the School prior to the commencement of any work.
The standard assessment/examination fee is applicable for the level selected.
